Allowing you to control access to your data is very important to Tech Matters, and that is reflected in our policies for Terraso and the LandPKS apps.
We encourage you to share your LandPKS observations to help advance research and to aid others in similar situations, but you can limit access to your data with our privacy settings.
Read Tech Matters’ full privacy policy for LandPKS and all our work.
Note: when a site or project’s privacy is changed from Public to Private, that only affects future access. If a site was Public, observation data may have been downloaded or shared with others.
Site privacy
When creating a site that is not part of a project, you can set the privacy to Public or Private.
Public sites are accessible to anyone using the LandPKS data portal. We may also share public site observations with third parties, such as the Landscape Data Commons, soil map maintainers, or others.
Private sites are only visible to the person who created them.
Site creators can change the privacy setting on individual sites at any time.
Project privacy
Sites affiliated with projects inherit the project’s privacy settings.
Sites that belong to private projects can only be accessed by project team members.
Project managers can change the project’s privacy setting at any time.
Site data
People with access to a site can see all observations associated with that site. LandPKS will not share your email address, but your first and last names will show on site notes. You can edit the display name for your Terraso account on the Terraso web app.
